Litfaß (2025)
Eine Ausstellung zum Thema Graffiti. Auf einer Litfaßsäule, angeordnet als umlaufende Galerie, ohne richtigen Anfang oder Ende, wird sich dem Thema Kunst im öffentlichen Raum aus verschiedenen Perspektiven gewidmet. Angefangen mit politischer Kunst, welche im Paris der ‘68er Revolution zu einer wichtigen Kommunikationsform wurde, über den Drang die leerer Wänden der Stadt einzunehmen und die Vereinnahmung dieser Kunst durch Werbung und Gentrifizierung. Daraus entwickelte die Künstler*innen folgenden Antwort: das von außen als Vandalismus wirkenden Schwarzmalen oder Bombing. Als Titel für die Ausstellung steht das Zitat von Friedrich Schiller “Die Kunst ist die Tochter der Freiheit”, in welchem er der Kunst eine Notwendigkeit unterstellt, dass sie aus dem freien Geiste kommen soll und nicht aus materieller Gier heraus.
An exhibition about graffity. The exhibition is arranged on an advertising pillar as a circumferential gallery, without an real starting point or end. Street art is seen from different perspectives: from the beginnings as a communication form during the ‘68 revolution in paris, followed by the the urge to embellish white walls in public spaces to the appropriation from advertising, gentrification and the resulting answer to that by the artists: bombing, often seen as vandalism. The title to the exhibition is a quote from Friedrich Schiller: “Art is the daughter of freedom”, in which he oughts art to be a product of the mind, not of a materialistic intention.
